Polish Cinema for Beginners: cult comedy “TEDDY BEAR”

Questa settimana, una piccola sorpresa gastronomica per i partecipanti, al termine della proiezione: un motivo in più (se ce ne fosse bisogno) per raggiungerci giovedì 10 dicembre.

Dear all,

On the 10th of December we would like to invite you to Nowe Horyzonty Cinema for another screening of Polish Cinema for Beginners. This time, celebrating the Holiday season, the English speaking audience will have a chance to watch one of the most absurde winter story of the Polish People’s Republic period – “Teddy Bear” by Stanisław Bareja.

The chairman of a sport club “Tęcza”, Ryszard Ochódzki (the Teddy Bear), has to travel to London in order to withdraw money out of his bank account. At the airport however, he is stopped by an officer as his passport is missing a few pages. The main suspect behind that is his ex-wife, who wants to delay his travel and take the money for herself.Ochódzki must come up with a cunning plan in order to arrive to London before her – whoever gets to London first keeps the money.

This grotesque depiction of Polish People’s Republic system and every-day-reality created by Stanisław Bareja is a must see at Christmas time in every Polish household.
