On Thursday, 29thof October we would like to invite you to the opening of the new season of Polish Cinema for Beginners. This time in Nowe Horyzonty Cinema will be screened one of the most important Polish movie by Jerzy Hoffman – “Deluge. Redivivus”.
The fifth season of our screenings of Polish film classics with English subtitles will be full of meetings with renowned Polish filmmakers.
For the opening film we have chosen “Deluge. Redivivus” – a shorter and digitally reconstructed film adaptation of a famous novel by Henryk Sienkiewicz. The film has gathered almost 30 million viewers in cinemas and was nominated for an Oscar. No wonder – The Delugecombines elements of romance, historical drama as well as the cloak-and-dagger film and it still remains one of the most popular Polish films of all time.
After the screening and the discussion we would like to invite everyone to a banquet.
Polish Cinema for Beginners is a project addressed to everyone interested in the history of Polish cinema and it is organised fully in English, which enables not only Polish but also foreign residents of Wrocław to participate. This is the very first film event of its kind in Wrocław and in all of Poland as it focuses on the non-Polish speaking audience, who up until now did not have the opportunity to watch Polish film classics on the big screen.Up until this point our audience had an opportunity to watch such films as “Mother Joan of the Angels” by Jerzy Kawalerowicz, “Man of Marble” by Andrzej Wajda, “Reverse” by Borys Lankosz and Agnieszka Holland’s “In darkness”
The fourth season of Polish Cinema for Beginners will open on the 29th of October in Nowe Horyzonty Cinema at 19:00. Tickets for 16zł can be purchased before the screening in the cinema or online at kinonh.pl . For more information about the project please go to www.polishcinema.com.pl
